Once again, Dr. Beach recognizes Siesta Key Beach!
 Siesta Beach is on Siesta Key, a barrier island between Sarasota Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. It is said to have the "whitest and finest sand in the world"; the sand is 99% quartz, and so reflective that it stays cool even on hot days. Dr. Beach's web site praises clear, warm waters, ideal for swimming, and coral rock and caves that are great for scuba diving and snorkeling. This beach is great for volleyball and other types of recreational fitness. The nearby city of Sarasota, meanwhile, is sophisticated, artsy, and family-friendly.
